So, if you read my first post, you’ll know I work in a school – hello summer holidays!
6 weeks of zero work.
I did about a billion things in those six weeks and if I told you about them all, this would be a really long, boring post… so I’ll delight you with the highlights over the next few posts.
Cornwall
I had the last day of work off because I’d built up some extra time so this took me on Rob’s annual family holiday. Oh – Rob is my boyfriend by the way.
After a little road trip we eventually made it to Constantine Bay and the gorgeous house the 13 of us stayed in.

The first morning we made our way to the bay in the unusually sunny UK weather. Many kites, swims, paddle boards and bat and balls later we walked home with high spirits and slightly reddened skin. (Well I didn’t because my mixed race skin doesn’t burn… don’t hate me.)

The next morning we went to the nearby town of beautiful Padstow. Picturesque and sunny, this was the perfect place for a summer seaside afternoon.

Okay okay… so we were having an amazing time and it was all great but I need to fast forward to the Wednesday.
We’d decided to visit The Lost Gardens of Heligan, about an hour away from Constantine Bay. From whimsical dresses in trees to tropical rainforests we had a fab day exploring and adventuring through the gardens.

After this we got home and because the weather had been super sunny and still, the windy day had summoned the perfect surfing conditions. My only New Year’s resolution/goal was to have a surfing lesson and as Rob can surf, we went off and hired some wetsuits and boards and headed to Harlyn Bay.
Well I was better at surfing than both Rob and I thought I’d be, I got on my knees which is apparently quite good for a first go and only suffered a minor injury with slight blood loss. I let the board hit me in the face and now have a little scar on my chin…but surfing scar? Cool man.

After this, Rob mentioned that he wanted to go and see Trevose Head and the lighthouse there. Unsteadily we walked down into the dip and up a big hill to get to the cliff at Trevose Head. We were surrounded by wild flowers, I was covered in sand and wearing flip-flops (my favourite of all footwear) and was completely content. I think I’m Moana and am happiest when I’m covered in sand and wearing flip-flops.
Rob asked me if I could see the house we were staying in, from the cliff and I turned round to look. He said “George” and I turned back round to find him on one knee!
Oh – did I say Rob was my boyfriend? I meant fiancé :p
On one knee, was my best friend and future husband (!) with the most beautiful ring I have ever seen with my own two eyes. After seven years together and only minutes after seeing me in a wetsuit, (it was a miracle he still wanted to be me after seeing that) Rob had proposed.
See why I wanted to fast forward now?

We went back to the house and there was champagne, tears, flowers, phone calls and love.
Of course my parents already knew because Rob had asked my dad and he had told my mom but I obviously called them, as well as my best friend, which was so super exciting and then…there were more tears.
Needless to say, we had an incredible week with the most incredible people and this was the most incredible start to my summer.
